where i am in the Hunger Games

"Katniss!" That is Rue's cry for help. My only ally who is twelve years old and reminds me of my sister. I see the boy's  (who's name for which I do not remember) blade going straight through her body as she collapse to the ground. I pull up my arrows and spear him in the head and watch him fall as I head straight towards her. BANG!  The cannon goes off. Another man dead. Something inside me shifts. As I'm watching Rue die in my arms I realized I just made my first kill.

an important quote from The Hunger Games

  "I volunteer"
This is the phrase Katniss said to save her sisters life. The day of the reaping was Prim's first time participating in the Hunger Games. Out of all the other kids names that was entered hundreds of times it was Prim's.  Prim who is only twelve years old with not survive. I have to go up there for her. Facing everybody in the crowd I can see it on their faces that this will be the last time they will see me. Gale, Greasy Sae, my mother. I'm gonna die for my sister. I just entered the Hunger Games.

What is the problem in the Hunger Games (from Katnisses point of view)

Sitting doing our interviews Peeta just pledge his love for me in front of the entire Capitol. "I've liked her since that first day in school" he explains to the audience. I never knew he liked me. I never notice him back in district twelve paying any special attention to me. But now all I can think about is Gale back at home watching this. My mother, Prim. What would they think of him loving me? How can I kill him in the arena to save my life? All I know is that I don't need this kind of stress entering the Games in the next few days.

What is the setting in the Hunger Games (katnisses point of view)

That morning I woke up and realized what day it is. Reaping day. Today is the day two kids - one boy and one girl- from district twelve and the eleven other districts will be participating in the annual hunger games. Will it be me? What about Prim? How can I see my little sister's name be drawn to go into the games? Well first things first, got to go out with Gale to hunt in the woods around our district for our families. It's the only way we can survive.
This short paragraph describes how Katniss felt when she realized that she and all kids ages 12 to 18 from her district (12) is going to have to have listen to see if their names would be drawn into the Hunger Games. The hunger games is an annual event that takes place once a year for every body's entertainment. The thing is the world was destroyed from war so this took place instead. North America was taken over and is now called Panem and was split off into 13 districts to separated different people. Each person fights to the death until the last one stands to be names the Hunger Games Victor.

Theme

There are many themes in The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, including, "fight for what you believe in", "never give up hoping", and "do what you need to survive".

Authors Purpose

Suzanne Collins was inspired when she wondered what would happen in the future, like what would happen if kids had to compete to live. She wrote it for teens because there are some death and violent parts.
